4 Things Successful B2B Salespeople Do Every Morning

The average B2B salesperson gets out of bed every morning and they start the morning with a cup of coffee. They’re still frustrated over the fact that 76% of their emails go unopened and the day starts badly for them.

That’s fine, but it’s not the best thing you could do. Those first few hours in the morning are crucial. Get them wrong and you’re missing out on a lot of potential results.

Successful B2B salespeople do things differently when they get out of bed. You may be surprised to learn that little of it has anything to do with making sales. This guide is going to show you some of the crucial moves successful B2B salespeople make when confronting the day.

Get Moving

Some people claim they are simply not morning people. This is nothing more than an excuse. There’s no genetic code that says you are hard working in the morning or in the evening. Some people are more energetic in the mornings because they have all the pieces necessary do to just that. It’s something they’ve put in place.

Move Your Body

To make sure you are making the most of every hour, start your day off with some movement. What you do is up to you. It’s not important as long as you get your heart racing.

Some people decide to stretch and some people decide to go for a morning run. Whatever you do, make sure this is the way to start the day. You’ll go into work energized and ready to go.

Trade in the Caffeine

The people who start off the day with caffeine tend to be the ones who take the longest to get up and running. If you want to be successful you need to move away from the artificial supplements. That coffee is a problem because it’s making it tough for you to make it through the day. Later on you’ll come down, and you’ll become entirely reliant on it.

Trade in harmful caffeine with a piece of sweet fruit. Plums, peaches, and strawberries with plain yogurt or a power shake can give you the same boost as coffee. The difference is this food burns slowly and won’t give you the comedown associated with coffee.

You can even nibble some dates or grapes throughout the morning to keep you on a high.

Control the News You Take In

Some people scan their email inbox and some people open up the newspaper. You control the type of content you consume. The problem is you are not taking anything in to keep you motivated. Passion can only take you so far. You should start out the day with a dose of optimism.

Trade in the day’s headlines with something inspirational. This could be a podcast or a biography of someone you look up to. Even just a few pages or a few minutes listening to a podcast can get you fired up to tackle the challenges ahead.

This isn’t advocating remaining ignorant of the world. It’s important to know about what’s going on around you. But the world is a dark, depressing place, at least when you read the newspaper. You don’t need to start off the day like that.

Start off the day with something that’s going to keep you happy instead.

Thank Someone

It can be anyone, including a quick message to a work colleague or saying thank you to your wife. Provide unconditional praise to them for something they have done. It doesn’t have to be anything out of the ordinary. Just thank them for being them.

This accomplishes a number of things. To start with, you have activated the endorphins inside you. It leaves you feeling good that you’ve thanked someone. You’re already starting the day in a positive way.

It also has a business side to it. You are massaging your entire business network and keeping them healthy. You won’t always see the benefits from those individuals in the short-term. But in the long-term you are going to find yourself in their good books.

People love to be appreciated, so providing that boost can accomplish a lot of good.

These four strategies will get you ready for the day, and all by the time you leave the house. You are setting the foundations for success later on. Do this successfully and you are sure to be a better B2B salesperson.
