To do B2B targeting better,
you need better data

Most publishers and ABM marketers will overlay firmographics to improve targeting. But we’ve discovered that much of the firmographic data available to license is not accurate enough – accuracy varied by source from 50-65% (in so much that we couldn’t use it for our own purposes).

In addition, these same marketers might rely on intent data to guide who they target and how they spend. These sources include Bombora, DemandBase, Aberdeen, and all the B2B publisher sites like LinkedIn, TechTarget, GlassDoor, IDG, and Ziff Davis. That approach, however, is misleading. When you look closer, you find more often than not that there is no “intent” to buy whatsoever, just interest in a topic and nothing on fit.

So to improve targeting, you first must improve the data sources you’re using to target.
